Dirk Sacré is professor emeritus of Latin and Neo-Latin language and literature (first at Antwerp University, then at KU Leuven). He is mainly interested in Neo-Latin epistolography (Justus Lipsius and Erycius Puteanus) and in (post-) humanist Jesuit and other poetry from Italy and the Low Countries. With Jozef IJsewijn, he coauthored the Companion to Neo-Latin Studies (II, 1998). Since more than a decade he has been publishing predominantly on modern Latin poetry (19th-20th centuries). He is general editor of Humanistica Lovaniensia. Journal of Neo-Latin Studies and president of the Academia Latinitati Fovendae in Rome.
